Put Some Flat Breads On The Barbie

OK SO I’M SURE MOST OF YOU OUT THERE HAVE AT LEAST ONCE MADE PIZZA THIS WAY —  PUT THE SAUCE ON THE DOUGH AND COVER IT WITH CHEESE AND TOPPINGS AND BAKE IT IN THE OVEN TILL ITS ALL BUBBLY –  WELL THAT’S GOOD, BUT BORING.  AND ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS I AM NOT INTO BORING.  ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD.  SO WHY NOT DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT NEXT TIME AND COOK THAT SHIT ON THE BBQ GRILL  ??  TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.  YOU WILL LOVE IT.  AND IT IS SO EASY.

THE FIRST THING YOU NEED IS SOME DOUGH.  IT’S EASY ENOUGH TO MAKE IT FROM SCRATCH, BUT IF YOU DONT FEEL THAT ADVENTUROUS JUST BUY SOME PREPARED DOUGH.  THERE ARE SEVERAL VERY GOOD ONES AVAILABLE IN YOUR LOCAL FOOD SHOP.  STRETCH THE DOUGH TO YOUR DESIRED SHAPE AND SIZE AND THEN BRUSH BOTH SIDES WITH OLIVE OIL.  TOSS IT ON YOUR HOT GRILL, LIKE YOU SEE BELOW, JUST A MINUTE OR TWO ON EACH SIDE.

grillpizza3REMOVE THE GRILL MARKED PIECE OF DOUGH FROM THE HEAT AND GET YOUR TOPPINGS OUT.  AT THIS POINT IT BECOMES A FLAT BREAD.  ARRANGE YOUR SAUCE (IF DESIRED – FLAT BREADS ARE BETTER WITH OUT SAUCES ON THEM IN MY EXPERT OPINION) AND YOUR CHEESE OVER THE FLAT BREAD, THEN TOP WITH YOUR OTHER CHOICES OF TOPPINGS.  FOR THESE TWO I CHOSE SMOKED SALMON, RED ONIONS, MOZZARELLA CHEESE, SOME HERBED SOUR CREAM AND FRESH DILL, AND ON THE OTHER ONE I PUT FRESH MOZZARELLA, CRISPY PANCETTA, CARAMELIZED ONIONS, SUPER POTENT ROASTED GRAPE TOMATOES, AND FRESH CILANTRO.grillpizza1

NOW ALL THE HARD WORK IS DONE.  LOWER YOUR HEAT ON THE GRILL TO MEDIUM, PUT THE FLATTIES BACK ON, CLOSE THE LID AND TAKE THEM OUT IN ABOUT ANOTHER 2 MINUTES, WHEN EVERYTHING IS JUST LIGHTLY MELTED.  SOOOOOO GOOD AND SOOOOO EASY……..grillpizza2
